ALAFA is a private sector driven, industry-wide programme. It employs a small core staff and contracts a network of private doctors and non-governmental organisations and private businesses to provide the actual services.
Private sector doctors
Lesotho has a thriving private healthcare sector. A network of private sector doctors, trained in treating HIV and AIDS, is providing the clinical component of ALAFA’s treatment programme.
Population Services International Lesotho
Population Services International Lesotho works closely with the Lesotho Ministry of Health and Social Welfare. It is a social marking company aimed at making essential healthcare products available and affordable. It also provides a voluntary counselling and testing service. PSI is helping ALAFA to distribute condoms and provides VCT services and peer education training.

Insight Strategies
Insight Strategies has been assisting businesses to address HIV issues for eight years. The company designed and developed a training course, Beyond the Balance Sheet, to assist small businesses cope with the threat of HIV. It has trained businesses in southern Africa to use this material. Insight Strategies conceptualised and developed the peer education programme for ALAFA and is overseeing its implementation.

Bohlale
Bohlale is a private sector, Maseru based training and research company focused on the socio-economic development of businesses and communities in Lesotho. The company has been closely involved in the roll-out of the ALAFA prevention programme in Maseru.
