ALAFA is being driven by the Lesotho Textile Exporters Association, with government, service providers, industrialists, labour, brands and retailers, funders, donors and multinational organisations working together to fight the pandemic.

ComMark Trust

ComMark Trust was regional development initiative, established with funding from the UK Department for International Development (DFID). ComMark partnered with the Lesotho National Development Corporation to assist the Lesotho apparel industry to become more competitive so as to enhance its growth and sustainability, and alleviate poverty through job creation. ComMark managed ALAFA during its initial stages and provided ongoing technical support until it closed at the end of 2009.

Ministry of Health and Social Welfare

The ministry has a national treatment plan for people living with HIV and AIDS and is increasing the number of facilities providing antiretroviral treatment around the country. It is supplying the network of doctors with antiretroviral drugs at no cost. The ministry is also providing Voluntary Counselling and Testing kits and condoms to the project.

This government department is responsible for the development and management of Lesotho's industrial and trade policies.

The Factory & Allied Workers' Union (FAWU) is the largest trade union active in Lesotho's textiles and apparel industry.

Clinton Foundation

The Clinton Foundation HIV/AIDS Initiative has been working with the Lesotho government since August 2004 to support its efforts to scale up its programme and extend access to antiretroviral treatment to as many Basotho as possible. The foundation has provided ALAFA with advice and conducted a review of the network of doctors.

National AIDS Commission

CARE South Africa - Lesotho

CARE was involved in the development of the National AIDS strategic plan. The organisation is engaged in a number of AIDS-related programmes in Lesotho. CARE is working with ALAFA to provide peer educator training.

Lesotho Network of People Living with HIV and AIDS

LENEPWHA is working to raise awareness about AIDS in Lesotho. It is setting up support groups for people living people living with HIV/AIDS, including AIDS-orphaned children. The organisation is helping ALAFA to mobilise people to come for voluntary counselling and testing.
